Mrs Paddy Power Mares Chase trophy

modelmaking, sculpting

It can’t wait furlong

This year’s Cheltenham Festival started yesterday, and again DW Modelshop were asked to provide the trophies for both the Stayers’ Hurdle and the Mrs Paddy Power Mares' Chase.

Designed to honour 2010’s famous Paddy Power Cleeve Hill sign and of course Mount Rushmore in South Dakota, the Mrs Paddy Power trophy depicts four famous Irish mares throughout racing history.

We followed model-maker Alex over the week as he built the trophy from 3D data, to print, to hand painting and finally shipped in a custom-made timber box.

Both this race, and the Stayers’ Hurdle take place on the final day of the festival, this Friday 17th March.

If you’ve a project like this you’d like to discuss with the team, let us know.
